Commonly asked questions...
WHY SHOULD I TAKE A BELLIES-2-BABIES CHILDBIRTH CLASS INSTEAD OF THE CLASS AT THE HOSPITAL?
Our classes are FUN! They are smaller and offer a more relaxed atmosphere which provides a better opportunity for you to share, ask questions, and connect with other pregnant families in the community. The class won't be rushed, and instead of just being fed a ton of info, you will have time to process and digest what you learn each week. We are able to take the time for discussion, videos, and learning activities instead of just a sitting through a long day of lecture. You will receive a beautiful full color workbook to use at home in between classes to further enhance your experience. Our classes are taught by a certified instructor with over 25 years experience in the field and we provide unbiased, evidence-based information so you can experience the true meaning of informed choice. It's Your Birth, Your Journey.
WHAT IS THE BENEFIT TO TAKING A SERIES OF CLASSES INSTEAD OF JUST A ONE TIME, ALL DAY CLASS?
It may seem great to go to just one class instead of several sessions. We get that, it's hard to carve out the time, but preparing for birth is important...REALLY important and like birth - it shouldn't be rushed. Shorter length classes that are offered weekly provide a more thorough and comprehensive educational platform. It drastically reduces that overwhelmed feeling you can get from information overload in a long, one day lecture. You will be more engaged during class and can come back the next week and ask questions about the material you read over in your manual during the week.
HOW WILL A CHILDBIRTH CLASS HELP MY PARTNER?
Your partner will benefit in more ways than you can imagine! Remember, it's their birth too. The partner typically has some real concerns about the birth process, the safety of it, what to expect during labor, and they really want to know how they can help you. Our Birth Boot Camp classes are designed with your partner in mind and not only do they find the class to be informative and enjoyable, they leave feeling confident in their ability to support you. We offer hands on instruction that shows real and practical ways the partner can support you during the labor and birth. You might have to drag them in kicking and screaming at first, but after that first class, they will feel completely different about it!
Yes! Information is power, and one of the best ways to enhance your birth experience is to be educated and well informed of your options. The meetings you have with your doula to prepare your birth plan will not provide enough time for you to learn all you need to know. Most doulas are not certified instructors and they really want you to take a good class, and your care provider does too (see video at top of page). She can point you towards resources for you to educate yourself, but your time together should focus on getting to know one another better and for her to really get an understanding of what type of birth experience you are wanting to create. The better educated you are when you meet with your doula the deeper you two can dive into making a plan instead of her spending time trying to inform and educate you.
